Our speakers at the event were Debbie Crosbie (CEO of Nationwide), Sheldon Mills (Executive Director at the Financial Conduct Authority) and Vincent Keaveny CBE (Progress Together Chair and former Lord Mayor of London).

Sheldon Mills
Executive Director, Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
Sheldon Mills is the Executive Director, Consumers and Competition at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). He is responsible for the delivery of the FCA’s statutory consumer and competition objectives in the combined Supervision, Policy and Competition (SPC) division.
Prior to joining the FCA, Sheldon was Senior Director at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) with overall leadership responsibility for the delivery of UK merger control across the entire economy and for the strategic design and implementation of the new UK State Aid regime. He is a qualified solicitor and before joining the CMA he practised law at King & Wood Mallesons and Jones Day, counselling a range of UK and international clients in antitrust and competition law.
Sheldon holds undergraduate and postgraduate law degrees from King’s College, London and was born and raised in Cardiff, Wales.
Debbie Crosbie
CEO, Nationwide
Debbie joined Nationwide as CEO in June 2022. She has over 25 years of experience in financial services leadership. Debbie was previously CEO at TSB, where she led a successful turnaround by transforming customer experience, making the bank more competitive, improving its reputation and increasing colleague engagement and diversity. Prior to TSB, Debbie had extensive experience of leading turnaround strategies and, while Acting CEO of Clydesdale Bank, led preparations for its successful demerger and subsequent IPO. Debbie is also Non-Executive Director at SSE plc and UK Finance and is a member of the Prime Minister’s 2024 Business Council.
Tulip Siddiq MP
Shadow City Minister
Tulip Siddiq MP is the Shadow City Minister, leading on the development of Labour’s policies for the City and on the financial services regulatory environment.
She has a keen interest in the role of financial services in reducing regional inequalities and supporting the transition to a green economy.
Tulip is Labour MP for Hampstead and Kilburn, having been elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2017 and 2019.
Tulip has previously served as Shadow Children and Early Years Minister and is a board member of the arts and theatre charity Good Chance and a patron of Leaders Plus, an organisation which supports parents in their careers.
Andy Silvester
Editor, City A.M.
Andy Silvester has served as editor of City A.M. since September 2020, joining a year earlier as deputy editor from a leading national newspaper.
Prior to his team there, he worked in a number of communications and political roles in Westminster, all focussed on business policy.
City A.M. is a free business-focused newspaper distributed in and around London, England, with an accompanying website.
In 2023, it had a monthly online readership between 1.8m and 2m and print circulation of 67,714.
